Riverside Village
Riverside Village is a family-oriented apartment community consisting of 26 buildings situated on 36 attractively landscaped acres. There are 78 one-bedroom units, 183 two bedroom units and 51 three bedroom units. Four of these units are handicap-accessible for residents with physical mobility impairments. In addition to one maintenance staff member residing on site, the property employs an after-hours patrol each evening for the convenience of the residents.
The community is ideally located in close proximity to restaurants, schools, colleges, retail business, and a large hospital. Residents of this suburban community enjoy the option of either using public transportation or the ease of having plenty of off street parking located on site if they prefer to own their own vehicle.
Riverside Village features a large community room with kitchen for a variety of social, educational, and recreational activities. Partnering with local agencies, many activities are available for children and adults of the community. Most popular is an annual summer camp, Girl Scouts, and a weekly chess club. There are seasonal arts and crafts, homework help sessions, and cultural opportunities through special presentations at the community room.
In addition to organized programs, the residents enjoy seasonal use of a full size swimming pool and a wading pool with certified lifeguards. There is a large, handicap accessible playground, as well as numerous areas featuring slides, swings, and other playground style equipment. A full basketball court and two tennis courts are well maintained and well-used by residents. Most popular is the spacious grassy picnic area with grills and seating for outdoor barbeques under the canopy of mature shade trees.
A community garden is located at the rear of the property with 12 well-used plots and plans to double in the coming years. Training, supplies, and support are provided to participants by a local agency.
The management office is located on site for ease in communication for the residents and includes a dedicated resident services coordinator. The maintenance staff is well trained and highly responsive to the needs of the diverse resident community. Emergency maintenance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Each building in the community features keyed entrances with intercom system that allow all residents to identify guests before allowing access. Laundry rooms with carded payment systems are located in the first floor of each building for convenience of the residents. All units are accessed through interior hallways. The typical unit design provides two bedrooms, a dining area, living room, galley-style kitchen, and full bath. All apartments come fully applianced including dishwasher.
The New England Affordable Housing Management Association has recognized Riverside Village as a Community of Quality. A Community of Quality is certified as having achieved a high standard of excellence in the way they are managed, the services they provide residents, the experience and training of personnel, and other criteria.

What type of housing is Riverside Village? Is it low income housing?
Riverside Village is an affordable housing community for singles and families. The rent is based on income and there are income guidelines as part of the qualification for admission. In some cases, residents pay 30% of their income for rent.
Who pays the remainder of rent?
The remainder of the rent is paid in the form of a subsidy. If a resident qualifies for a subsidy, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a U. S. government agency, will pay the remainder of the rent.
What does the rent include?
Monthly rental of the apartment, water and utility allowance. A utility allowance is a certain amount taken off of the resident’s rent payment meant to help the resident pay the electric bill. The allowance amount is based on average usage for the apartment and may change annually. Residents will still receive an electric bill, but the allowance is intended to help pay for it. Residents may still be eligible for energy assistance from the state.
Is there a lease?
Yes, the initial lease is for 12 months, which becomes a month to month lease at month 13.
How many apartments are there?
Riverside Village has 312 apartments.
How big are the apartments?
Due to a variety of floor plans, the square footage varies slightly for the one and two bedroom units. One bedroom apartments range from 712 – 772 square feet. Two bedrooms range from 653 – 775 square feet. Three bedrooms are 897 square feet.
How do I get started with the move-in process?
Simply fill out an application completely, sign it and mail it to the address on the back of the application.
Is there a waiting list for residency?
Riverside Village presently has a closed wait list for the project-based Section 8 program. For other programs, there is no wait list.
What is the Security Deposit?
The Security Deposit is the same as one month’s full rent (before the electric allowance) with a minimum of $25. This deposit is due in full at the signing of the lease.
Do you allow pets?
Riverside Village does allow pets. A copy of the pet policy is available upon request.
Is there additional storage space available?
There are 4 x 4 foot storage lockers available in the office building. Available on a first come, first served basis they are offered to residents at no charge.
Is there an elevator?
No, Riverside Village is a garden-style apartment community. There are stairs to all levels except for the handicapped accessible units.
Is parking available?
Yes, Riverside Village offers ample off-street parking for all residents.
What is the cost for parking?
There is no cost for parking.
How many keys do I receive?
Residents receive an apartment key, a mailbox key, and an access key to the main entry. In addition, swimming pool access cards are issued each spring.
Are there any planned activities?
As a resident of Riverside Village you will receive our monthly newsletter which will keep you up-to-date on functions and other events at our community room.
Are there on-site laundry facilities?
Yes, there are laundry rooms in every building.
What is the garbage/recycling process?
Presently there is not a recycling program. However dumpsters are in the parking lots of our buildings for ease of rubbish disposal.
Is there any public transportation available?
Riverside Village is on the local MART bus line and a short distance away from the Boston MBTA train station. School bus pick up and drop off are at a covered bus top in the center of the community.
