The Heartland is a HUD-subsidized retirement community located in the heart of Peoria, Illinois. This three-story community consists of 150 apartments for older adults over the age of 62 and mobility impaired individuals over the age of 18.

The community is located two blocks from the Peoria Civic Center and adjacent to Senior World. We are minutes from all area hospitals, downtown Peoria, shopping malls, Dozer Park, and convenient to public transportation.

Our residents enjoy frequent parties, potluck suppers, bingo, and other social activities which are held in the community room. Our community actively participates in RHF’s Project H.A.N.D.S.

A Social Service Coordinator is available for residents’ personal needs.

What are the age requirements for living at The Heartlands?

You must be at least 62 or have mobility impairment; however, we do have a limited number of age waivers for those who are between the ages of 52-61.

How many bedrooms and what is the size of the apartment?

All of our apartments have one bedroom and it is 544 sq.ft.

Do I have to pay utilities?

All necessary utilities (water/electricity) are included in the amount of the rent. Telephone and cable will be your responsibility. Free cable television is provided in the community room only.

Do you accept pets? Is there a deposit for my pet?

Yes, we welcome small pets, and there is a minimal deposit for your pet.

What is the amount of my rent?

The rental amount at The Heartlands is calculated according to your income; 30% of your adjusted income
