Miracle Manor is an affordable, older adult (62+) community with several apartments equipped to accommodate those who are mobility impaired.
Located behind the Edna High School Stadium, Edna High School gives all our residents “free” season passes to all their extra-curricular activities; local football, basketball and volleyball games and One Act Plays.
Monday – Friday; Friends of the Elders provides Meals on Wheels to homebound residents.
The Friends of the Elders Senior Center Van comes Monday – Friday to pick up any resident who wishes to go to the center for a meal. They offer free bingo on Tuesday and Thursday.
Residents may also schedule a van pick-up to go shopping or for doctor appointments by calling 361-782-5511.
The Jackson County Hospital and Jackson County Medical Clinic are close by.
Pets are welcomed but a deposit is required and there are size limitations.
Miracle Manor is a smoke-free community.

What type of housing is Miracle Manor? Is it low-income housing?
Miracle Manor is a subsidized housing community for seniors over the age of 62 and the mobility/sensory impaired. The term “subsidized housing” means that the rent is based on income. A resident of the community pays approximately 30% of their income as rent.
Who pays the remainder of the rent?
The remainder of the rent is paid in the form of a subsidy. If a resident qualifies for a subsidy, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), a U.S. government agency, will pay the remainder of the rent.
How is rent calculated?
Resident rent is based on approximately 30% of income. A good estimate of your rent would be to take 30% of your gross annual income and divide it by 12 months. This will give you an estimate of what your monthly rent could be.
What does the rent include?
Monthly rental of the apartment, as well water and an electric allowance. An electric allowance is a certain amount taken off of the resident’s rent payment meant to help the resident pay the electric bill. The allowance amount is based on average usage for the apartment and may change annually. Residents will still receive an electric bill, but the allowance is intended to help pay for it. Residents may still be eligible for energy assistance from the state.
Is there a lease?
Yes, there is a one-year lease, but we understand the necessity of unanticipated move-outs.
How many apartments are there?
Miracle Manor has 23 apartments.
How big are the apartments?
Miracle Manor offers spacious studio and one-bedroom apartments, as well as a few more-accessible apartments for the sensory/mobility impaired. For square footage, studio apartments are approximately 453 square feet and one-bedroom apartments and accessible apartments are approximately 577 square feet.
How do I get started with the move-in process?
Simply fill out an application completely, sign it and mail it in the envelope provided.
Is there a waiting list for residency?
Yes, currently Miracle Manor has a waiting list. Please call for the approximate waiting time.
What is the Security Deposit?
The Security Deposit is the same as one month’s full rent (before the electric allowance) with a minimum of $50. This deposit is due in full at the signing of the lease.
Do you allow pets?
Miracle Manor welcomes your pet. Fish and birds are welcomed without a deposit. We also welcome small dogs and cats with a pet deposit. There is a limit of one animal (cat or dog) per apartment and there are certain size and breed restrictions.
What is the Pet Deposit?
The pet deposit is the same amount as the security deposit with a minimum of $50 and a maximum of $150. We can make payment arrangements for this deposit. Beginning with $50 and then a monthly payment of $10 until the deposit is paid in full.
Is there additional storage space available?
There is no additional storage available; however, each style of apartment offers a large amount of storage space. Our One BR Apartment have a Walk-in Closet in the Bathroom and a Walk-in Pantry in the Kitchen.
Is parking available?
Yes, Miracle Manor offers its residents the use of one parking lot, in the front of their building.
What is the cost of parking?
There is no cost for parking.
How many keys do I receive?
Residents receive an apartment key and a key to a locked mailbox for their apartment.
Are there any planned activities?
At present we have a bi-monthly “Bingo”, every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Southbrooke Manor is providing our “Bingo Prizes”, at this time.
Are there on-site laundry facilities?
There is one laundry center at Miracle Manor. It contains two coin operated washers and two coin operated dryers with folding and hanging areas for the convenience of our residents. This center is located in the main building.
